Volunteer to Support Ed Day

With Election Day soon upon us, our volunteer opportunities are all oriented towards Get Out the Vote!

Volunteering for the Ed Day re-election campaign is a rewarding and fulfilling experience.  Not only are you assisting in a great cause committed to “Leading the Way to a Better Rockland”, but the experience will be full of fun and excitement.  We list descriptions of sample volunteer roles on this page. Check the boxes for any role(s) that might sound right for you to get started.

Display a Lawn Sign, Campaign Banner, or Non-Adhesive Bumper Sticker
Signs and bumper stickers may be picked up in person at the George Hoehmann campaign headquarters at the old Radio Shack, 170 S. Main St. in New City, or you may request delivery. Lawn signs can be delivered, and bumper stickers mailed out. We would need your complete mailing address, including zip code to deliver and/or mail materials. Be sure to indicate how many signs or stickers you need. To pick up items hours for the headquarters are as follows:
Mondays & Wednesdays 9 am – 11 am
Tuesdays & Thursdays 6 pm -8 pm
Saturdays & Sundays 10 am -12 pm

Window signs are primarily for business locations and are only available for pickup in person at the headquarters location.

Spread the Word on Social Media
Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Your likes and posting comments help show support. Even better is sharing our posts and campaign releases through your network, including emailing to friends. We will also be delivering new episodes of our documentary Running Independent – An Inside Story right up until Election Day. These are great to share!

Get Out the Vote Calls from Home
We have an easy to use computer program that allows you to contact voters from the comfort of your own home. It includes an automatic dialer that places calls through your computer or mobile phone. These calls remind our voters to make sure they get to the polls on November 8th and as needed, help clarifying polling locations, ballot instructions and making arrangements with our tram for transportation if required.

Staff Campaign Office
This volunteer staffs one of our office locations during designated hours during weekdays or weekends. You would help answer inbound calls, greet walk-in voters, hand out lawn signs and other campaign materials, and funnel media requests to the Campaign Manager.

Hand Out / Hang Literature On Doors
Help hand out literature in front of supermarkets, bagel and coffee shops, ball fields and other populated shopping and/or sporting venues. Participate in distribution of literature in designated areas of the county to either residential or commercial locations.

Help with Collecting Petitions
To be on the ballot requires the candidate to obtain signatures from registered voters. We need volunteers to go door to door in their neighborhood or staff a table at strategic events to collect signatures.

Please note that to collect signatures you must be a registered member of the party you are collecting for or be a notary public.

Volunteer On Election Day
There is a lot to do on November 8th. You can be part of our Election Day team in a number of ways. We need people to make last minute phone calls, remind people on social media to vote, and drive people to the polls. We will be putting together a schedule and assigning duties in the next few days.

Connect to Discuss Volunteer Opportunities
In addition to filling out this form, you can also reach out to our Campaign Manager Dan Weisberg for more information about volunteer opportunities at 845.406.0975 or [email protected].
